Within his 2008 release, Good Time, a generous selection of 17 tracks, Alan Jackson sings of all sorts of times. Not only the "Good Time" of the title track--a dance floor, barroom anthem with a hint of Chuck Berry--but tender times ("Right Where I Want You"), mournful times ("Sissy's Son"), lovelorn times ("Listen to Your Senses"), kick-back times ("Laid Back 'n Low Key"), even times of marital monotony ("Nothing Left To Do"). With his return to more traditional country, he channels his inner George Jones on "When the Love Factor's High" and "If You Want to Make Me Happy," takes a bluegrass turn on the uptempo, downbeat "Long Long Way," teams with Martina McBride on "Never Loved Before," eulogizes his father on "Small Town Southern Man" and closes with the honky-tonk gospel of "If Jesus Walked the World Today." Since Jackson is the sole songwriter here, the listener gets a sense of every side of his multifaceted musical personality. --Don McLeese

5BEST Ever!!  May 22, 2010
I am Extremely satisfied with the purchase, a quick delivery, I was able to enjoy the music for the weekend and the CD is the best variety of Allan Jackson for two step'n, line danc'n, and the good ole' good time line dance.

5GOOD TIME  Apr 01, 2010
THE PRICE WAS GREAT AND THE CD LOOKED NEW. I WOULD DO BUSINESS AGAIN. FAST DELIVERY.

5A Good Time Indeed  Mar 15, 2010
The title track of Alan Jackson's most recent album, Good Time, delivers exactly what it promises.

"Good Time" blares through the speakers with plenty of mid-tempo honky-tonk sass and a less-than-subtle nod to Brooks and Dunn's early '90s line dance classic "Boot Scootin' Boogie." And with that, all fears of another slump of a release from the '90s neo-traditionalist giant disappear. Not since 2002's Drive has Jackson been this true to form.

The clincher is that Jackson finally boasts complete songwriting credits, having penned and arranged all 17 sprawling tracks -- uncommon in the genre. Radio staple "Small Town Southern Man" fits neatly next to the Georgian's long line of hits, with a hooky chorus, raw fiddles and plenty of pedal steel. Other songs branch out stylistically, evoking George Jones ("I Still Like Bologna,") Brad Paisley ("Long Long Way"), and even Jimmy Buffett ("Laid Back 'n Low Key").

Is it troubling that Jackson has slightly eschewed his "Don't Rock the Jukebox" days to sound more like his modern contemporaries? The strong set on Good Time disagrees, and still sounds more "real country" than the last Kenny Chesney album did.

5GOOD TIME ALAN JACKSON  Feb 01, 2010
I ALWAYS HAVE LIKED ALAN JACKSONS MUSIC. THIS CD IS VERY GOOD BECAUSE ALL THE SONGS ARE VERY GOOD NOT LIKE SOME WHERE YOU YOU GET MAYBE TWO OR THREE.IF I WERE YOU I WOULD BUY THIS.

5VERY CATCHY CD BY ALAN  Oct 02, 2009
This one took a little while to grow on me. However, it has and I can't keep it out of my Cd Rom. My favorite is the cut with Martina McBride. "I Wish I Could Back Up is also up there as a favorite. The "Small Time Southern Man" is classic Alan Jackson. Kind of reminds me of "Little Man." "This Time" really makes one think about life and what really matters.

I think the only song I don't care for is the last cut. "If Jesus Walked The World Today." I think this song is a little sacreligious. After having put out "Precious Memories," I have to say I'm disappointed that Alan would produce such a off color song such as this. Other than that one, a definite 5 star album. This album and "What I Do" are probably my favorite albums by Alan Jackson. I definitely recommend it.
